CosbyActor and activist Bill Cosby cut his teeth as a comedian who got his start in television as one half of a groundbreaking duo on thecrime drama, “I Spy.” Cosby and co-star Robert Culp quietly changed the dynamics of television when they portrayed two spies — one white, the other African-American — who masqueraded as a tennis pro and his mentor.
“I Spy” was the first time America saw an interracial pairing on television in which both characters were cast as equals. The two actors decided early in the 1965 premiere season that they would make a statement about race relations by not addressing the groundbreaking casting choice at all. Cosby and Culp would portray a world where ethnicity wasn’t a factor

Muammar Gaddafi
WASHINGTON — Ratcheting up the pressure, President Barack Obama on Saturday said Moammar Gadhafi has lost his legitimacy to rule and urged the Libyan leader to leave power immediately.

It was the first time Obama has called for Gadhafi to step down, coming after days of bloodshed in Libya. Gadhafi has vowed to fight to the end to keep his four-decade grip on power in the North African country.
“When a leader’s only means of staying in power is to use mass violence against his own people, he has lost the legitimacy to rule and needs to do what is right for his country by leaving now,” the White House said in a statement, summarizing Obama’s telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Newt Gingrich could bring ugly baggage to 2012 presidential raceNewt Gingrich

WASHINGTON — When it comes to affairs of the heart, Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich has never displayed especially good timing — or sensitivity — in making big decisions.
His first wife, Jackie, says Gingrich discussed details of their pending divorce while she was in hospital recovering from uterine cancer. He ditched his second wife, Marianne, in a phone call while she was at a party celebrating her mother’s 84th birthday. And Gingrich carried on a torrid fling with his future third wife, Callista, a congressional staffer 23 years his junior, while leading impeachment proceedings in Congress against Bill Clinton over the Monica Lewinsky scandal.
