Where can you take the family on an alpine-type holiday (forests, rivers, mountains), but at non-Alpine prices? Until last year, I had no idea, but I now know: it’s Slovakia.

Yes, this small, landlocked nation may have lost Prague in its 1993 divorce from the Czech Republic, but fortunately it kept the Tatra Mountains.
